With a history that dates back to the later 19th century as a mining area, Tenuta Casteani has undergone many iterations, but at last has returned to the original vocation of the area, as farmland. At the beginning of 2002 they decided to plant the native grapes of Maremma: sangiovese, vermentino, alicante and aleatico.
Now with a focus on Sulfite-Free natural wines, Tenuta Casteani has taken the reins of the natural wine movement, Spirito Libero, and is driving towards truly rebirthing the history of wine in the region.
